Upstream authority BPMIGAS?s Chairman R. Priyono said Wednesday the agency will award contractors who discover oil and gas reserves the right to sell oil and gas produced from the reserves, including the government?s shares.
?The appointed sellers will be those who have discovered the oil and gas reserves and have trading arms. This comes as a form of appreciation to their successful efforts of finding and extracting the oil and gas,? Priyono told Petromindo.com.
He said the policy served as the basis of the agency?s recent decisions to appoint Chevron Indonesia Company as the seller of the gas from the Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) project in Makassar Strait, East Kalimantan and Eni Spa as the seller of gas from Muara Bakau block, also in East Kalimantan.
