Fire at Terra Drone office kills 22

A fire at the Jakarta office of PT Terra Drone Indonesia on Tuesday killed 22 people, including a pregnant woman, according to Central Jakarta police. The blaze broke out around 12:40 p.m. at the company’s building in Cempaka Baru, Kemayoran, with firefighters arriving about ten minutes later.
Central Jakarta Police Chief Susatyo Purnomo Condro said initial findings suggest the victims died from asphyxiation. A full forensic review by the national police laboratory is underway to determine the cause of death and the origin of the fire.

Terra Drone Indonesia, formerly PT Aero Geosurvey Indonesia, provides unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) services for industries such as construction, mining, oil and gas, utilities, and plantations. The company conducts aerial mapping, inspection and monitoring, and also offers drone training and consulting.
The company became part of Japan-based Terra Drone Corporation in 2019 after receiving investment and adopting the Terra Drone brand. The parent company operates in more than 25 countries.
