Fire hits fuel storage at Cilacap refinery

A fire at a fuel storage at Pertamina?s refinery in Cilacap, Central Java early Saturday morning did not affect production activities at the refinery which produces Premium gasoline, aviation fuel (avtur) and several other fuel products.

"The fire at the 31 T-2 storage did not affect fuel production? Kurdi Susanto, the spokesman for the Cilacap refinery plant, said in a press statement issued immediately after the fire.

He said the fire, the third which hit the plant in the last three years, was still going by the time he made the announcement but, he said, firefighters had managed to stop it from spreding.

The Cilacap refinery, one of the seven refineries operated by Pertamina, has a capacity to process 348,000 barrels of oil a day. The plant supplies 60 percent of fuel needs in Java. (giok)
