Fire incident at FSO Lentera Bangsa, 4 injured,1missing

Four people have been seriously injured and one is still missing caused by fire incident at FSO (Floating Storage and Offloading) Lentera Bangsa operated by CNOOC SES in the Java Sea this morning. The injured workers have been rushed to RSPP hospital in Jakarta, the upstream oil and gas regulator BPMigas said.
The fire began at 08.40 am and was extinguished at 11.35 am. The fire was suspected to be originated from the FSO?s engine room due to hot work. At that time, there were some 35 people on board.
BPMigas said at that time, the FSO is not in operating condition as it is undergoing a maintenance. The dead stock on the FSO was 82,000 barrels of crude oil. The operator of the vessel is now trying to activate the vessel.
BPMigas said it has sent an investigative team to find out the cause of the fire on the vessel.
The vessel is not owned by PT CNOOC, instead leased by the Chinese company. The vessel is believed to be owned by PT Trada Maritime Tbk. (godang/giok)
