A fire incident at a wood mill of PT Canang Indah in North Sumatra Sunday has caused part of North Sumatra and Aceh provinces to suffer blackout.
The fire has disconnected the 150 kV Belawan-Binjai high voltage elevated power line, and disrupting the transmission of electricity from two power plants namely the 2x200 MW PLTU Pangkalan Susu coal-fired power plant in North Sumatra, and the 2x100 MW PLTU Nagan Raya coal-fired power plant in Aceh, which have to be shut down.
Senior Manager for Public Relations at state-owned electricity company PT PLN, Agung Murdifi said in a statement Monday that repair work of the disrupted power line is in progress, and hopes that the electricity supply to be resumed quickly. (*)
