PT Rezeki Perkasa Sejahtera is set to develop a 10 MW biomass power plant, which will use palm oil kernel as feedstock, to help increase power supply in the province.
Rezeki signed a power purchase agreement with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN on Friday.
Business Director at PLN Kalimantan Regional Office, Djoko R. Abumanan said in a press statement that this will be the first biomass-based power plant in the province, taking advantage of the abundant supply of oil palm kernels in Kalimantan.
He said that construction of the Rp 250 billion power plant will take about 14 months to complete, in the hope that it would start operation in December 2017.
