First mini LNG terminal seeks gas supply

PT Pertadaya Gas, a joint venture of two state owned companies of PT PLN and PT Pertamina, expects its first mini LNG terminal project to secure gas supply deal by the end of the year.
"We are currently finishing the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) works for the project and hopefully by the end of 2012, we will get certainty from PLN regarding the gas supply so the project can be commenced", Pertadaya Gas' President Director Tammy Meidharma told petromindo.com during a seminar in Singapore last week.
Pertadaya Gas' Mini LNG terminals are expected to supply gas necessity for PLN's gas fired power plants in the eastern region of Indonesia with a total capacity of one million ton of LNG per year. The facility will be built in 9 locations, namely in Pesanggaran in Bali, Maros in South Sulawesi, three units in East Kalimantan (Bontang, Semberah and Tanjung Batu), Batakan in South Kalimantan, Likupang in North Sulawesi, Halmahera in North Maluku and Pomalaa in Southeast Sulawesi.
Pertadaya Gas is responsible to build the facility, whereas PLN seeks the source of LNG and power plant procurement. At the moment PLN is still looking for potential LNG supply for the project.
Pertadaya Gas was established last June by PT Indonesia Power (a subsidiary of PLN) and PT Pertamina Gas (a Pertamina subsidiary), with the composition of 35 percent and 65 percent respectively.
