PT.Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) on Monday inaugurated first oil from its oil field in Rokan PSC onshore Central Sumatra called North Duri Development (NDD).

BPMIGAS Deputy Chairman Eddy Purwanto told Petromindo.Com that initial production from NDD was at 500 barrels per day from 25 wells, increasing to 2,000 BPD by the end of this year from 90 wells.

Eddy said peak production from NDD is expected to be reached in 2012 at 33,000 barrels per day with planned well of 530, which would consist of 390 production wells and 140 injection wells.

Eddy said the NDD project is one of Chevron?s efforts to slow down production decline from the aging oil fields within its Central Sumatra contract area.

CPI, a subsidiary of US giant Chevron Corp, is expected to produce 405,000 BPD this year, declining to 382,000 BPD next year. (godang)
