Five companies to jointly built manganese ore smelter

Five companies have agreed to jointly build a manganese ore smelting plant in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, with total investment of about Rp 650 billion (about US$65 million). Investor Daily reported Thursday.
The companies that is PT AGB Mining, PT Pusaka Pertambangan Mina, PT Berkah Kencana Sakti, CV Jasindo Utama, and JSK International Co Ltd of South Korea would soon establish a joint venture to handle the construction and operation of the smelter.
Sutisna Prawiro, a senior official at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, said that the joint venture would also open a number of manganese ore mines in several regencies in the province.
The manganese ore would be processed in the company?s smelting plant which would have an installed production capacity of 60,000 tons a year. (*)
