Five die in gold mine accident

Five gold-miner died when a mining pit collapsed on Sumatra island, Kompas daily reported on Sunday.
The five workers were mining in an eight metre (26.7 foot) deep pit in Jambi province when its walls collapsed Friday, burying them, the Kompas daily said.
The men were part of a team of seven operating the illegal gold mine.
Gold mining is regulated by the state in Indonesia and the team was operating one of several illegal mines in the area.
The owner, a local entrepreneur, was being questioned by police. (*)
