State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said that five companies have submitted bid documents for the construction of its compressed natural gas (CNG) marine transportation project.

?There are five companies which have submitted bid documents in the CNG marine tender,? Suryadi Mardjoeki, Head of Fuel and Gas Division at PLN, told Petromindo.com Friday.

The five companies include Mitsui & Co, Shijiazhuang Enric Gas Equipment Co, DKB (Hyosung Corporation), PT Seamless Pipe Indonesia Jaya, and Marubeni.

Suryadi said that the company will explain the tender process to the bidders next week. He added that it would take about a month to complete the pre-qualifcation process.

The CNG marine project will include the construction and operation of a CNG marine carrier, and the loading & discharging facilities. The CNG vessel will transport gas from Terang Sirasun gas field in East Java to PLN?s gas-fired power plant in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

On April 29, PLN re-launched the tender process for the project because the earlier bidding round generated less than expected bidders.
