Five injured including one hospitalized in a clash between security officers of liquefied natural gas producer PT Badak NGL Bontang and a group of people of the Desa Sekambing village in South Bontang sub district, East Kalimantan, the local Kaltim Post daily reported.

The paper said that the fight occurred on Monday. It was started when several PT Badak security officers asked a group of people to put the fire they set on the Jalan Pipa Street because it could cause a fatal accident: an explosion of the gas pipeline.

But Aco Abubakar Sidiq, the leader of the villagers, told the security officers to back off. Aco claimed that the land now controlled by Badak belongs to his family and warned that the security officers were trespassing his property.

But the security officers insisted to putt off the fire. The police later came to the location but the fight was unavoidable. Four villagers were injured and one security officer was hospitalized.

The Police then finally stopped the fight. (*)
