Five power sector projects launched in Batam

Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo launched on Friday five major power sector-related projects in Batam, Riau Islands, which are expected to strengthen the crucial power supply on the island.

The five projects include the construction of the second route of the Pemping-Tanjung Uncang gas pipeline, gas-fired Tanjung Uncang power plant, coal-fired Tanjung Uncang power plant, Tanjung Uncang relay station, and 150 Kvolt Saguling-Tanjung Uncang transmission line.

A senior PLN official, Dadan, said that the 13.5 km Pemping-Tanjung Uncang gas pipeline is expected to be completed end of this year.

Meanwhile, the construction of the 2x35 MW Tanjung Uncang gas-fired power plant, with total investment of US$66 million, has reached 64 percent of the targeted works as of end of January of this year. Together with the 2x42.5 MW coal-fired Tanjung Uncang power plant are expected to start operation end of this year.
