Flood prone areas identified

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climate and Geo-physic Department (BMKG) of Balikpapan, East Kalimantan stated to Petromindo.com on Friday that it has identified several areas in East Kalimantan that might be prone to flood between January and March 2013 due to the anticipated high rainfall density.

"These areas include Kotabangun, Long kali, Long bangun, Samarinda Ilir, Samarinda Ulu, Barong Tongkok, Muara Ancalong, North Balikpapan, South Bontang and North Bontang," said BMKG staff Junaedi on Friday.

He also said that higher rain density has been spotted in a number areas this January including in Tanjung Redeb, Tarakan and Tanjung Selor.
