Floods hamper fuel distribution in Jakarta

The distribution of fuel from the main fuel receiving terminal in Plumpang, North Jakarta, to many parts of the greater Jakarta area continued to decline on Tuesday due to floods which hit the capital during the past several days, the Bisnis Indonesia reported Wednesday.

Pertamina's official in charge of fuel distribution in Jakarta, Djaelani Sutomo said Tuesday that only about 4,000 kiloliters of fuel could be distributed a day, or about 40 percent of the level in normal days, due to the floods.

He said that the fuel distribution was hampered by the floods which hit many areas in the capital, particularly along the Jl. Yos Sudarso, the main entrance to the Plumpang duel terminal.

Djaelani said that Pertamina had added fuel supply from fuels terminal in Cikampek, Padalarang and Tanjung Gerem in Merak to cope with the possible shortage of fuel supply in the capital. (*)
