IDX-listed coal mining firm PT.Bayan Resources said on Tuesday that force majeure was still in effect for its Wahana Baratama mine in South Kalimantan as the mine was still inundated by water.
Bayan Commissioner Michael Sumarijanto told Petromindo.Com that the mine was still unable to resume mining process as haul road was still inundated by water.
?Weather condition had been improving in the past few days. We hope to be able to resume mining operations and shipment soon,? he said, adding that overburden removal activity was still progressing.
Bayan was forced to announce force majeure on September 12, 2008 after heavy rainfall hit the mine and caused heavy flooding.
Wahana, which is located in Satui regency, started operations early this year. Michael said in April 2008 that the mine was expected to produce 2.5 million tonnes this year. (godang)
