The Forestry Ministry has ensured that all flora and fauna in high conservation value (HPV) forests could be saved by introducing delineation assessment procedures to identify and protect such forest areas, Investor Daily reported on Tuesday
The ministry?s secretary general Hadi Daryanto said in Jakarta on Monday that the obligation to conduct a macro and micro delineation assessments was imposed on concession owners for natural forest logging, industrial forests and smallholders? forest areas.
The delineation assessment must be carried out in forest areas for plantations as well as those used for mining operations, and it should be carried out by independent parties which have obtained accreditation from the forestry ministry to ensure that the audit result would be reliable and accountable.(*)
