Forestry ministry issues 21 permit to geothermal power developers

Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan said his ministry has issued 21 permits to geothermal power developers, allowing these companies to develop geothermal projects in protected forest areas.
?The geothermal permits were issued in no more than three months. We have (Monday) just issued 21 permits to geothermal business operators,? Minister Zulkifli Hasan was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying Tuesday.
He said since the government has issued ruling and provided legal basis for the development of geothermal projects in protected forest areas, his office has been able to speed up the permit issuance.
He however did not disclose the names of the geothermal operators that have secured the permits. (*)
