Former employees of Vico stage demonstration

Some one hundred former employees of oil and gas firm PT Vico Indonesia staged a demonstration on Monday at the Kutai Kertanegara parliament building in East Kalimantan demanding a severance pay.

The local Radar Kaltim daily said that the protesting employees had not received severance pay since being laid off six months ago.

The protesters asked legislators to help obtain the severance pay.

The paper said that until late on Monday evening the protesters remained at the parliament building. They said that they would continue their protest until the legislators agreed to help them obtain the severance pay.(*)
