The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested former president director of state-owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) WMP Simanjuntak on Wednesday on charges of illegally taking money from the company's gas distribution network project.

The KPK investigation found that Simanjuntak received Rp 3.5 billion (US$350,000) out of the total project cost of Rp 136 billion, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said.

The project took place in 10 areas across the country.

"We will detain him for 20 days at the Cipinang penitentiary," he added. (godang)
