Former PGN boss gets 3.5 years in jail

Former president director of state owned gas distribution company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) WMP Simanjuntak was sentenced by the anticorruption court to 3.5 years in jail Monday for his involvement in bribery in 2003.
Judge Tjokorda Rai Suamba said that the defendant was guilty of taking a bribe from PGN?s contractors involved in the pipeline distribution construction projects in 2003.
He said that Simanjuntak had cooperated with the general manager of PGN?s branch in the province, Trijono, in the offence, who was sentenced four years in jail last year in the same case.
The defendant also received additional fine of Rp 100 million or face additional three months in prison. The prosecutor earlier demanded six years jail term and fine of Rp 150 million for the former PGN president director. (*)
