Former PLN president director becomes suspect in corruption case

The corruption eradication commission (KPK) has formally named former president director of state electricity company PLN Widiono Suwondo a suspect in a corruption case related to the procurement of goods and services for the company?s IT-based customers management system, Kompas reported on Tuesday.

Spokesman for the anticorruption agency Johan Budi said in Jakarta on Monday that the suspect had allegedly marked up the procurement costs for the project for the improvement of the company?s customers management system for Jakarta and Tangerang areas that could inflict about Rp 45 billion financial losses on the state.

?The suspect has not be detained,? he said, adding that the former PLN president director was declared a suspect after a series of cross investigations during the trial of the company?s director for Java and Bali, Hariadi Sadono.

Prosecutors had demanded a 10-year jail term for Hariadi for his involvement in corruption case related to the procurement of goods and services for the IT-based customers management system for the company?s operations in East Java. The price marked-up practices in the project had caused Rp 175 billion financial losses on the state (*)
