Former PLN president director detained

After a series of investigation, former president director of state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) Eddie Widiono was detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday on charges of involvement in a corruption case.

Eddie was accused of being involved in the graft related to the procurement of computerized customer information system for the company?s Jakarta and Tangerang distribution areas. This, according to the KPK, had inflicted financial loss of Rp 46.19 billion to the state.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi SP said that Eddie, formally named a suspect in March last year, was accused of abusing his power in assigning PT Netway Utama to procure the computerized customer system during the period of between 2004 to 2007.

The former PLN president director would be detained for 20 days for further investigation. (*)
