Four bidders compete in Tanjung Jati B coal supply tender

State electricity firm PLN said on Wednesday that four coal producers have been registered as qualified bidders for its medium and low CV coal supply tenders for Tanjung Jati B 2x660-MW power plant in Central Java.

Tanjung Jati B Fuel Manager Chris Leo Manggala told Petromindo.Com that for medium CV coal the company had short-listed East Kalimantan coal miners PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and Banpu?s unit PT.Indominco Mandiri.

For low CV Lot 2B supply tender, East Kalimantan coal miner PT.Berau Coal and PT.Wijaya Karya have been listed as bidders, while KPC, Berau Coal and Wijaya Karya compete for Lot 2C low CV tender.

Manggala said medium CV and Low CV lot 2B winners would be announced on Friday while low CV 2C bidders are still in evaluation process.

Medium CV winner will supply 800,000-1 MTPA of MCV coal (5,400 kcal/kg on GAR) in five years starting September 2008 with six-year extension option.

Low CV Lot 2B winner will supply 300,000 up the 1,000,000 metric tons per annum of coal (above 5,100Kcal/kg GAR) for one year starting 2008, while Lot 2C winner will supply 500,000 up to 1,000,000 metric tons per annum for five years, with an option for additional 1 to 5 years starting September 2008 as tentative schedule.(denny)
