Marathon Energy's plan to farm out 30 percent of its participating interest in Kumawa block located in Southeast Maluku waters, has drawn interest from a number of oil and gas companies.

"They (potential buyers) have requested the government to formally open 'data room' of Kumawa block," A. Eddy Hermantoro, Director for upstream business at the Directorate General for Oil and Gas, told Petromindo.com.

He however declined to mention the names of the potential buyers.

Sources close to Petromindo.com said that four companies, namely ConocoPhillips, Talisman, Husky and Hess, are interested to acquire the 30 percent interest in the Kumawa block from Marathon Energy.
