Four companies get special rights to distribute gas

State owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) and three other companies including PT Bayu Buana Gemilang, PT Energasindo Heksa Karya and PT Sadikun Niaga Mas Raya have obtained special rights to distribute natural gas in different areas in West Java and Banten.
Tubagus Haryono, the head of BPH Migas, the regulatory body for oil and gas downsteam industries, said in Jakarta Monday that PGN received a new right to distribute gas in Bekasi, Tangerang and Serang for 25 years.
PT Bayu Buana won the right to distribute gas in Cikarang and Cibitung, PT Energasindo in Tangerang while PT Sadikun to distribute gas in Cikarang industrial area and Banten. Unlike PGN, the three companies' rights would be valid only for 10 years.
"The four companies have begun their operations," he told reporters.
Tubagus said that the rights could be extended but the decision for the extension would be made by a special commission. He also said that the rights could be also revoked if the four companies failed to abide by the regulation such an open-access policy. (godang)
