Four international companies are participating in the tender to provide a Floating Storage and Regassification Unit (FSRU) for state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero) to be stationed offshore Cilacap, Central Java.
?There are about four companies participating in the tender, among which are Norwegian firm H?egh LNG and a company from Kuwait," an industry source told Petromindo.com.
The Kuwaiti company has left one its vessels idle, because they are now using a larger vessel, according to the source.
"The construction of the FSRU is expected to be completed quickly, within about 1.5 years, as the vessel has been available. Pertamina will use on a leasing scheme,? the source explained.
Last February, Pertamina completed the Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) for the FSRU.
Salis S. Aprilian, President Director of PT Badak NGL said earlier the FSRU will have a capacity of 70 mmscfd and will among others supply gas to the Cilacap refinery. The refinery, which now uses expensive oil fuels for operation, will then use gas as fuel.
He said, cement producer Holchim and several factories operating in the area have voiced interest in the gas from the FSRU.
The state firm targets the FSRU Cilacap to come onstream in 2018. It will be the third FSRU operating in the country. Pertamina will allocate 10 cargoes for the FSRU from 2018 through 2020 and 20 cargoes in 2021.
