Four firms join tender for subsidized fuel distribution

As many as four companies including PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Aneka Kimia Raya Corporindo Tbk (AKR), PT Surya Pama Niaga, and Shell are currently taking part in the tender for the distribution of subsidized fuel in 2013, as quoted by Bisnis Indonesia.

Djoko Siswanto, the director of downstream oil and gas regulation, said last week that unlike the previous year, the Malaysian company Petronas did not take part in the tender. ?Petronas was replaced by Shell which was absent in last year?s tender,? he added.

Djoko said that Petronas did not take part in the tender because the operation cost for the distribution of the subsidized fuel was too high for the company, which was given only to distribute a small amount of the subsidized fuel.

In 2012, only about 0.4 percent of the subsidized fuel quota of 40 million kiloliters are distributed by non-Pertamina, most are all distributed by Pertamina. Next year, subsidized fuel quota is expected to reach 46 million kiloliters. (*)
