The Bengkulu provincial administration has shortlisted four private companies to take part in the tender to develop the Baai Island Port, which will not only serve as an economic center of the region but also a major gateway for coal exports from the region.

The four companies are PT Tellen Indoclay, PT Pathaway International, both foreign investors, PT Sambo Karya Mandiri and PT Sumber Makmur Abadi Jaya, both local investors.

Iskandar ZO, head of Bengkulu's economic bureau, said initially there were seven companies that voiced interest to participate in the bid but three of them were later crossed out of the list because they failed to submit their bids.

According to Iskandar, the four companies held presentation in front of top leaders of the province on Thursday to explain their respective plan to develop the Baai Island. (*)
