A fire accident occurred at East Kalimantan oil and gas company PT Total Indonesie Friday morning injuring four employees, the local Kaltim Post daily reported.
The paper said that the fire hit one of Total's oil wells in the Tambora-Tunu area specifically in the central processing unit area.
But Kaltim Post said that Total had been tight lipped over the fire accident. The paper could not located where the four injured employees were being treated.
Total spokesman Nurul Fazrie could not be reached for confirmation, while East Kalimantan Pertamina public relations officer W.F. Welan said that he had not been informed about the accident.
Sources at the Tambora operation said that the fire accident occurred after Total disposed its waste materials containing oil into the sea. When an employee started a welding activity during a low tide, it sparked a flame. (*)
