State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina will appoint a new president director for its subsidiary Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) this month in place of Arie H. Soemarno, who has now became Pertamina?s marketing director, Bisnis Indonesia reported in its Monday edition.

A source revealed to the paper that there are four candidates vying for the Petral?s top post. They are Didit Purwoko, Pacific Petroleum Trading?s chief representative in Jakarta; Budhi Himawan, Petral?s finance director; Dwi Kushhartoyo, Pertamina?s downstream storage deputy director; and Hanung Budya Yuktyanta, Pertamina?s public relations manager.

Pertamina?s commissioner Roes Aryawijaya said Petral?s would be president director must do business.

?Anybody can become Petral?s president director but he must do business. It means he or she can communicate properly so that he or she do not have weakness in language. We will ask Pak Arie because he knows more about Petral and the job,? Roes told journalists last week.

Roes admitted that he didn?t know anything about the four candidates because Pertamina?s board of commissioner only approve the recommendation of Pertamina?s board of directors regarding the appointment of Petral?s president director.

When Bisnis asked Pertamina president director Widya Purnama, he said Pertamina has already received several names for the top post of Petral from the company.

?I cannot mention the names of the candidates because it is still in the process," Widya said last week. (*)
