State electricity company PLN is proposing that four more power plant projects be included in the public private partnership (PPP) scheme in order to receive a guarantee from the government, Bisnis Indonesia reported Saturday.

PLN director for risk management Murtaqi Syamsuddin said in Jakarta on Friday that the four power plant projects which would be located in four different locations, would need about US$3 billion in investment.

?Their combined capacity almost equals that of PLTU Jawa Tengah which has a capacity of 2 x 1,000 megawatt,? he said, adding the Central Java steam-fired plant would be the first power plant project to be built under the PPP scheme.

Murtaqi said that the combined capacity of the four power plants which would be built in Jambi, South Sumatra, East Kalimantan and Sulawesi, would reach 2,200 megawatt, he said, adding that the construction of the fou plants would be part of the PLN's long-term power plant development program. (*)
