Freeport develops local food crop project

The giant gold mining firm PT Freeport Indonesia worked together with the local Cendrawasih University in Irian Jaya to develop a high quality local food crops.
The Timika-based Freeport has just shipped in some 1,000 sagu plants, a local food crop, from Sentani in Jaya Pura.
The paper said that the Sagu plants could be developed even in a land filled with Freeport's tailings waste product.(*)
