Freeport-McMoRan completes tender offer of senior notes

New Orleans-based giant miner Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. announced Thursday that it has accepted for purchase US$133.3 million in principal amount of its 7.50 percent Senior Notes due 2006, or approximately 67 percent of the outstanding 7.50 percent notes when tender offer expired on April 16, 2003. Final settlement of this transaction is expected on April 22, 2003
Freeport McMoRan had been trying to buy back its notes on high level of cash it now held.
Freeport McMoRan runs a giant copper and gold mine in the province of Papua through its subsidiary PT. Freeport Indonesia. (alex)
