Freeport pays $634m in Q2 taxes, royalty to government

Copper and gold mine giant PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), a subsidiary of US-based giant Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc, paid a total of US$634 million in taxes, royalties and other financial obligation to the government during the April to June period, this year.
The company said in statement on Friday that the payment included corporate income taxes of $490 million, employee taxes, local taxes and other taxes worth $106 million and royalties of $38 million.
Total funds paid by PTFI to the government reached $899 million during the first semester of this year. PTFI had paid a total of $10.4 billion to the government since 1992 until June, this year. (denny)
