Freeport's Tino Ardianto emerges as a candidate for Perhapi chairman

Tino Ardianto, a middle-level manager at gold and copper mining giant PT Freeport Indonesia, has emerged as one of the candidates to become chairman of the Indonesia Mining Experts Association or Perhapi, according to a source.
The source said that Tino was being favored by the young generation because of his critical views regarding the country's mining sector.
Tino is a graduate from the Colorado School of Mine. He took his first degree from the Bandung Institute of Technology.
Tino currently a chief engineer at Freeport.
Perhapi is scheduled to its congress on September 14-15. Minister of Mineral Resources and Mine Purnomo Yusigiantoro is expected to open the congress, which would also elect for a new chairman to replace Herman Afif Kusumo.
The source said that Tino would be competing with legislator Pramono Anung of the House of Representatives commission VIII on mining and energy, and Latif Baki, a senior executive at mining firm PT Karimun Granite. (R. Amoros).
