Saturday, November 1 2014 - 05:18 AM WIB

The workers of gold and copper mining giant PT Freeport Indonesia have dropped an earlier plan to launch a one month strike following an agreement with the company, Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday.

The paper quoted Freeport Indonesia workers union spokesman Juli Parrorongan as saying that the union, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and company have reached a ?win-win resolution? over the aspiration and issues put forward by the workers of the company and its contractors.

He declined to disclose the results of the agreement.

The workers have earlier threatened to launch a one-month strike starting November 6 as they demand people at the management to be responsible for successive deadly mining activities at the company?s mine area in Papua. The workers had demanded for a reshuffle of the management.

The strike, if realized would hurt PT Freeport Indonesia?s production. (*)
