The workers of gold and copper giant PT Freeport Indonesia plan to hold a one-month strike starting November 6, which if realized will affect production, Kontan daily reported on Tuesday.

The paper, quoting Sudiro, head of the SPSI workers union Freeport Indonesia chapter, said that the workers had been disappointed as there has been no one held responsible for mining accidents at the company last year and this year, which have killed some 32 workers.

The workers of Freeport Indonesia contractors PT Kuala Pelabuhan Indonesia and PT Puncakjaya Power are also expected to join the strike.

The paper said that the workers among others demand management reshuffle at PT Freeport Indonesia and the contractors following the series of accidents. (*)
