French govt pledges scholarships for energy, mining sector staff

The French government on Thursday pledged to provide training courses and scholarships for Indonesians working in the energy and mining sector.

The promise was expressed by a French delegation of government officials at the end of their two-day meeting with their Indonesian counterparts from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, according to Zudhan Fathomi, senior lecturer at the ministry?s education and training center.

The meeting, which took place at the Jakarta-based training center, aimed to increase France?s assistance for improving the quality of Indonesian workers at the country?s energy and mining projects, Zudhan told Petromindo.com after the meeting.

?The French government pledged to provide scholarships for our staff to attend courses in France. It also planned to send its experts to our country and develop E-training courses with us,? Zudhan said.

French director general of energy and mineral resources, Christophe Baulinet, headed the 10-member French delegation in the meeting which were also attended by 30 staff members of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. (Leo)
