The Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) Gagak Rimang, a key production facility of the Banyu Urip field in Cepu block, has been successfully installed and connected to the mooring tower, according to a top official of PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC), a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero).
With the FSO now connected to the mooring tower, the stability of the FSO has now been well assured.
?The consortium led by Rekind has managed to install an offshore pipeline and the mooring tower. So the MSS (marine steel structure) has been planted and connected, which is tied to the bottom of the FSO Gagak Rimang and is able to rotate 360 degrees,? President Director of PEPC Amril Thaib Mandailing told Petromindo.com.
The 23-km offshore pipeline and the mooring tower are part of the EPC-3 work package of the Banyu Urip field project. The mooring tower was constructed by a consortium led by Indonesian company PT. Rekayasa Industri which partnered with Likpin, LLC and PT. Bakrie Construction at the shipyard owned by Bakrie in Sumuranja, PuloAmpel, Serang, Banten. The provision of the FSO is part of EPC-4 work which was undertaken by the consortium of PT Scorpa Pranedya and Sembawang Shipyard.
Meanwhile, VP of Public Relations and Government Affairs at ExxonMobil Indonesia Erwin Maryoto confirmed that the FSO Gagak Rimang has arrived and moored at a location about 23 kilometers offshore Tuban.
"Currently the FSO is in the final stage of preparation to be ready to support full production of the Banyu Urip field in 2015,? he added.
The Banyu Urip project in the Cepu block located in the border areas of Central Java and East Java is one of the prime oil and gas projects expected to bring the field?s production into full capacity of 165,000 bopd in 2015. The block is jointly operated by ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd (EMCL), a unit of ExxonMobil Indonesia and PT Pertamina EP Cepu.
