The Floating Storage and Regassification Unit (FSRU) Lampung owned by state owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara has left South Korea, where it has been made, heading for offshore Lampung, where it will be stationed.
"We expect the FSRU to arrive in Lampung on the first week of May 2014," PGN Vice President for Communications, Ridha Ababil to Petromindo.com, on Wednesday.
According to Ridha, the vessel will arrive sooner than expected. In December last year, PGN said that the FSRU vessel was projected to arrive in June.
"We have called on the ministry (the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) to ensure the availability of LNG supply for the FSRU," he insisted.
The LNG supply for the FSRU, which has a capacity of 170 mmscfd, will come from the Tangguh project in West Papua.
"This year, there will be 5 cargoes (of LNG for the FSRU). Next year, the supply will increase to 10 cargoes," he added.
The FSRU was constructed by state-owned engineering firm PT Rekayasa Industri and Norway?s Hoegh LNG at Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard with an investment of US$250-$300 million.
