IDX-listed gas distribution company PT PGN Tbk said that its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Lampung has received one cargo of LNG from the Tangguh LNG plant in Papua.
The company said in a statement Sunday that the vessel carrying one cargo of LNG (about 137,700 cubic meters) arrived in Lampung Saturday morning. The ship to ship transfer (the process of unloading the LNG from the carrier to the FSRU vessel) would take about 75 hours, or three days, said Mugiono (one name), President Director of PT PGN LNG Indonesia, a subsidiary of PGN, which operates the FSRU Lampung.
The cargo of LNG from Tangguh forms part of the 1.1 million cubic meters of LNG set to be received by the FSRU this year. ?Negotiations are in progress to obtain additional cargoes from other sources,? Mugiono said.
The LNG will undergo a regasification process into gas at the FSRU. The gas will then be channeled via underwater pipeline to the Labuan Maringgai station, which is connected with the South Sumatra West Java (SSWJ) pipeline for distribution to industrial consumers in South Sumatra and West Java.
Meanwhile, PGN Corporate Secretary Heri Yusuf said in the statement that the gas from the FSRU Lampung will also be used to support gas-fired power plant projects in the country. Of the planned 35,000 MW power plants to be developed until 2009, about 13,432 MW will be in the form gas-fired power plants, requiring gas supply of 1,009 mmscfd.
PGN is developing mini sea LNG transportation to transport LNG from the FSRU Lampung to the power plant projects.
The FSRU Lampung has a storage capacity of 170,000 cubic meters, and regasification capacity of 240 mmscfd.
