Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Djoko Siswanto officially inaugurated on Sunday three gasoline stations in Kepulauan Talaud Regency, North Sulawesi Province.

The ministry said in a statement that the three new fuel oil stations form part of government’s efforts to help improve fuel distribution in the country’s remote regions and to help realize the one fuel price policy.

The statement said that the fuel for the gasoline stations in Kepulauan Talau Regency is supplied via the Bitung Fuel Oil Terminal located some 278 sea miles.

The government introduced in 2017 the one fuel price policy, which aims to ensure that consumers in remote areas in the country can purchase fuel at the same price as consumers in the much-developed Java Island.

To help realize the policy, the government, especially through state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, has developed new fuel distribution facilities in remote regions.  The ministry said that from 2017 through 2019, Pertamina has developed new fuel distribution facilities in 124 locations, while Pertamina partners have develop new facilities in nine locations.
