Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan said that fuel oil refill stations are required to install at least one gas dispenser at its facility within the next 12-24 months.

Jonan said in a statement on Wednesday fuel stations failing to meet the deadline will have their license revoked by state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.

Jonan issued in March Ministerial Regulation No 25/2017 which requires all fuel oil refill stations in the country including those operated by foreign firms such as Shell and Total to have at least one gas dispenser.

The new policy is aimed at helping to increase the use of cleaner gas among motorists as part of energy diversification strategy and help achieve the government?s CO2 emission target.

According to the ministry?s roadmap, a total of 150 fuel oil refill stations located in Jakarta, West Java, Banten, Central Java and East Java provinces are required to each have at least one gas dispenser.
