The House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday agreed that fuel supply for domestic consumption for this year be raised by between 1.7 and 1.9 million kiloliters for the coming three months.

The increase is meant for anticipating possible rising demand for fuel during coming four months, a member of DPR?s Commission VIII in charge of mines and energy, Priyo Budisantoso, told Petromindo.com on Tuesday.

This year?s fuel supply was planned to stand at 52.7 million kiloliters.

Meanwhile, the downstream director of state oil and gas company Pertamina, Muchsin Bahar, said that, the extra supply of fuel may be obtained from domestic refineries, from overseas or through crude processing deals.

Muchsin estimates that domestic fuel demand will reach 55.01 million kiloliters in 2002. (godang/alex)
