State energy company PT Pertamina said the supply of fuel in the Central Sulawesi is still adequate after a fuel tanker MT Anggraini Excellent carrying tons of fuel hit the Poso fuel terminal.
Unit Manager for Communication and CSR of Marketing Operation Region VII of Pertamina Hatim Ilwan said in a statement on Sunday night that the accident involved MT Anggraini Excellent and has been dealt with by Pertamina in cooperation with local port authority.
“The cause of the incident is being studied. Pertamina is now focusing on ensuring the fuel supply in the Central Sulawesi remains adequate,” Hatim Ilwan said, as quoted by Antara.
Hatim said the incident occurred at 17.40 central Indonesian time.
Hatim noted the local government office that deals with environmental issues has assured that there was no oil leakage that might have been caused by the incident.
The MT Anggraini tanker vessel was carrying 4,000 kiloliters of fuel and remains intact, said Hatim. In order to prevent unexpected things to happen, Pertamina has installed oil boom near the tanker vessel and spray oil spill dispersant in around Poso fuel terminal to prevent environmental damage.
