Fuhai, Ansteel to develop steel plant in Jambi

Two Chinese firms Fuhai Group Ltd and Ansteel plan to develop a steel plant in Jabung, Jambi Province, with an annual capacity of 2 million tons, Bisnis Indonesia reported Wednesday.
The paper quoted Director General of Mineral and Coal R. Sukhyar as saying that the two firms submitted the plan on Monday.
He added that the steel plant will source its nickel pig iron material from a smelter being developed by Fuhai?s subsidiary PT Megatop Inti Selaras in Cianjur, West Java, which is expected to be completed in 2016.
Sukhyar did not say when the steel plant would start construction. (*)
