Galvalume steel makers expand capacity

Domestic steel makers are set to expand production capacity of galvalume steel to help meet rising demand at home and reduce dependency on import, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Saturday.
Domestic galvalume output are currently produced by three companies including PT Saranacentral Bajatama Tbk, PT Sunrise Steel and PT NS Bluescope Indonesia with combined capacity of 60,000 tons per year.
?Sunrise next year plans to add new production line. Saranacentral is expected to complete the modification of its galvalume machinery at the end of this year,? Handaja Susanto, Head of the Indonesia Zinc Aluminum Steel Industry (IZASI), told the paper.
Sunrise Steel President Director Henry Setiawan confirmed that the company is adding a second production line, of which construction progress has reached 70 percent.
The second production line will boost the company?s galvalume production capacity to 400,000 tons per year, the largest in Indonesia, from current 260,000 tons per year. (*)
