Garda to double coal production in 2010

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Garda Tujuh Benua, which has just listed its shares at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) on Thursday, expected 2010 production to double to 1.8 million tonnes from 900,000 tonnes this year.
Director Socrates Rudy Sirait said that the company would achieve the increase by adding new equipments to the mine, which is located in Bunyu island.
Sirait also said that the company will employ drying equipment at the mine to reduce moisture to 35% from 50%. The company, which is producing low CV coal, has supply contracts with Singaporean trading firm KTP Export Pte Ltd and Dynet International Pte Ltd, which pay US$12 for each tonne of the company?s coal.
According to President Director Hari Purnomo, the mine has coal reserves of 140 million tonnes. (bernard)
