Gas gush at Exspan's E. Kalimantan well stopped

Oil and gas producer PT Exspan Nusantara on Tuesday succeeded to stop gas spouting out from an old oil well in its Tarakan production sharing contract area, local daily Kaltim Post reported.

Exspan?s workers injected mud and water into the well causing gas stop spewing out.

On Monday, the workers also succeeded to put off fire at the well which had blown out and caught fire on the same day.

Meanwhile, six of the seven people injured in the accident had been transported by a chartered plane to Jakarta where they were hospitalized. Most of them were Exspan?s workers, company spkesman Zainuddin H said.

Exspan is a unit of publiclylisted oil and gas firm PT. Medco Energi International Tbk. (*)
